Summary:
The Vehicle Driver safely transports children to and from elementary schools and field trips with Learning Care Group's safety vision of No One Gets Hurt in mind.
The Vehicle Driver ensures that the bus is regularly maintained and safe for driving under all applicable state and municipal regulations.
The Vehicle Driver may step into an Assistant Teacher or other role as needed.
Job Duties, Tasks and
Responsibilities:
Safely transports children to and from elementary schools and field trips by operating the vehicle in accordance with all state and municipal regulations and engaging in defensive driving at all times while on the road.
Follows all Company procedures relating to injury management and accident protocol and promptly reports, both verbally and in writing, child injuries and hazards to Company management.
Visually inspects that each child is buckled before starting the vehicle's engine; verbally communicates to each child the requirement that each child remains belted during the vehicle's operation; and wears a seatbelt at all times during the vehicle's operation.
Physically assists children in boarding and exiting the vehicle, which requires the Vehicle Driver to lift, balance, push, and pull; and visually ensures that all people and obstacles are at a safe distance before the vehicle's operation and avoids backing up the vehicle whenever practicable.
Operates the vehicle in accordance with any restriction noted on the Vehicle Driver's license (e.
g.
, eyeglasses) and promptly notifies Company management when taking medication that could impair judgment or performance while driving the vehicle.
The Vehicle Driver may not use any drug or narcotic, or alcohol at any time while operating the vehicle in strict adherence to state laws and Company policy.
Maintains eyes on the road by engaging in defensive driving tactics to ensure student safety.
The Vehicle Driver may not use any cellular telephone or electronic device, eat, or drink at any time while operating the vehicle.
Frequently cleans the vehicle, which includes, but is not limited to, sweeping and disposing of trash and bending over and picking up other debris and items from the vehicle floor.

October 1, 2018 Establishes and maintains a safe and healthy learning environment by a) adhering to all Company procedures related to injuries and accidents and b) verbally communicating to students, staff, and/or the Director regarding potential hazards or injuries; and c) visually performing safety checklists as assigned.
Communicates, both verbally or in writing, suspected child abuse or neglect to local child protective agencies or child abuse hotlines as required by law.
Attends, in-person, all staff training sessions and meetings at the direction of the school director.
Treats each child with respect and dignity by recognizing and considering the unique background of each child, including children with disabilities, special talents and interest, style and pace of learning.
Creates and maintains an intellectually stimulating and age-appropriate environment.
Assists the Lead Teacher and/or Teacher with the implementation of the Company-provided curriculum, which includes communicating and interpreting, both verbally and in writing, instruction in ten learning domains, by preparing written, age-appropriate lesson plans on a weekly basis.
Interacts with children and models socially-appropriate behavior on the playground and in the classroom by developing and participating in physical activities that require frequent standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, and lifting to engage each child.
Assists the Lead Teacher and/or Teacher in conducting regular a) classroom observations and b) formal and informal assessments that reflect the age-appropriate interests of children in the Lead Teacher's classroom.
